What an interesting lesson did we have this morning! Rebecca, a vigorous
teacher ,gave us a vivid presentation of how to teach a target language for the
young language learners.
'i Buenos dias!', a lady in five-month pregnancy said to us, accompanied
with gesture, as she stepped into our classroom. We felt confused by the strange
sounds at first. 'i buenos dias!'she said it twice and encouraged us with her
eyes. One of my colleagues said, 'Good morning.' Suddenlly happiness shone from
her face . She came to him and repeated, 'i buenos dias!' Now all of us could
understand her words and follow her .Then she began the back chain pronouncing
practice like this:os/nos/enos/wenos/bwenos . Seeing that we were motivated ,
the teacher went on saying, 'Como te llamas?Me llamo Rebecca. Como te llamas?
'We each had the chance to practise the drill. In order to get the feedback, Rebecca
divided us into small groups and reconstruct the dialogue. Though Spanish was
absolutely new to us, we were getting involved in this interesting lesson. We
tried the new language to introduce ourselves emulatively. We took part in the
activities and enjoyed them a lot. During the whole lesson, Rebecca made the stages
of her lesson clear and full of challenges. We were motivated by her humorous
words、facial expressions and interesting activities.
I did learn some Spanish today! But above all, I did learn something new
of teaching young learners from Rebecca's class:1.Person hears and understands
first! 2.We don't need to teach the grammar at the first lesson. 3. Try to give
students motivation and reason to study hard. 4. Do the same exercise in different
ways. 5. The work must focus on the students. Give the students clear and suitable
tasks. 6. Make some noises, let the students have confidence to talk in groups.
7. Let your high spirits infect the children in your class.
